Our Materials
NATURAL JADE
For millennia, jade has been called the "stone of heaven" in Chinese culture. In Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy, jade is classified as:
- Cooling – Believed to clear heat and calm agitation
- Calming – Traditionally thought to settle the spirit and quiet anxiety
- Protective – Historically worn as a guardian against negative energy
- Balancing – Considered to harmonize yin energy and support inner peace
We source only natural, untreated Grade A nephrite, a type of jadeite historically used in rituals and sacred objects.
BAO LOC SILK
Silk has been woven in Vietnam and across East Asia for centuries for garments and bindings used at moments of importance. Lightweight and refined, it has long been chosen for its restraint and elegance. XENXEN uses silk woven in Bao Loc, Vietnam’s historic silk-weaving region in the Central Highlands. Known for its smooth handfeel and strength relative to its weight, Bao Loc silk is traditionally reserved for human couture.
- Cooling comfort – Scientifically proven temperature regulation
- Hypoallergenic – Gentle on sensitive skin and fur
- Energy flow – In Eastern philosophy, silk is believed to allow qi to move freely without obstruction
- Luxury touch – Soft, non-irritating, naturally smooth
Unlike synthetic materials, silk breathes with your pet's body, providing comfort that adapts to their needs.
Each necklace is knotted and finished with attention to softness, balance, and detail, allowing the material’s natural variation to remain present. Delicate by design, it is intended for special occasions.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Many of the details in a XENXEN piece are completed through hand-beading and hand-finishing techniques traditionally reserved for ceremonial dress and fine adornment. We choose to work with artisanal ateliers because these methods allow for a level of restraint, precision, and material sensitivity that industrial production cannot replicate.
We work with master craftspeople in Asia who understand these materials intimately—their properties, their histories, their potential. Each piece takes weeks to create because quality, like wellness, cannot be rushed.
